Credit Opportunities

Below are some of the credit opportunities that we regularly offer to earn credits throughout the year. Larger credit opportunities may become available later in the year, so stay tuned and join the Remind!

Tutoring (2 credits)

We have joint tutoring with MAO every Monday and Thursday until 3:30. SNHS members can tutor for credits, and anyone can come in if they want extra help in biology, physics, chemistry, and/or math.

Mondays: Arrington (Room 305)
Thursdays: Gangwani (Room 303)

Meetings (1 credit for attending)

We will have meetings every first Wednesday of every month. We will host Kahoots! after, which are fun science-based games. You can earn credits for participating, and if your team wins, you will receive additional credits!

Clean-ups (3 credits)

Clean-ups will be held once a month on the third Wednesday of every month. Members go around the school picking up trash and earn credits.

Ink Cartridges (5 credits max per year)

If you bring in ink cartridges to Dr. Arrington or Mrs. Gangwani, you can earn credits. There is a maximum of 5 credits that can be earned from ink cartridges per person.

1 per small ink cartridge, 2 per large one.

Guest Speaking (2 credits for attending)

We will be inviting guest speakers to talk about their field of interest where members can get advice on how to get involved or to learn more about that field. If you have a guest speaker you would like to suggest to us, please let us know through Remind.

Student Lecturing (5 credits)

If you would like to lecture on a topic you're interested in relating to science or math, please contact Chloe Zhang through Remind. The lecture must last at least fifteen minutes. It is helpful to have a visual aid such as a presentation and you can have a review game (Kahoot, Quizizz, etc.) after. You may also do this with another person.

Helping Teachers (5 max per year)

Many of our science teachers have classroom tasks that they need help with. These can include anything from organizing class materials to cleaning beakers and lab equipment. If you find a science teacher that you can help, have them sign a sheet of paper confirming the time and tasks that you did for them and bring these to Dr. Arrington where he will assign a credit value.

1 credit per hour, 5 max.
