The major work we will read this 9-weeks is the modern novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. This short work of dystopian fiction will bring together many of the introductory skills you will have learned into a culminating experience. You will learn to find not just WHAT the author says to us, but WHY he tells his story. Along with this you will learn to prove your analysis with textual evidence, discuss the works and their meanings, and communicate your ideas on censorship, satire, freedom of thought and expression, the power and responsibility that comes with knowledge, equality, and the power of technology.
