Hello! I'm Reed NeSmith, and I'm the Grovetown HOSA president this year. I remember first hearing about HOSA my freshman year of high school, but I simply ignored it. Then, my sophomore year, when I decided healthcare was my passion, I decided to join on a whim. I'm so glad I joined, being in HOSA has opened my eyes to what I want in life and where I want to be in my career. I'm thankful that I have the opportunity to be president and hopefully open other healthcare students' eyes to what they want to do in life. Even more, I'm thankful that I've had the honor of being Mrs. Kirby's student, she's an amazing teacher and a great advisor. I look forward to this year of HOSA!

Hi everyone! During my times in high school, I joined numerous clubs but HOSA always stood out from the rest. This organization is different from others because of our awesome advisor and teacher, Mrs. Kirby, who supported us through anything and how HOSA kept community service a priority. While being in HOSA, I’ve become more outgoing and confident when meeting new people as before I was less likely to do so. As I’ve worked with Mrs. Kirby, I learned that engaging in the activities and being willing to learn new things puts you on the path to success. What you put out, is what you get back. HOSA is open to students who are interested in any career path; it’s not just limited to medical. If you’re interested in competing in events, JOIN HOSA. If you’re interested in serving your community, JOIN HOSA. If you’re interested in making new friends, JOIN HOSA. Hopefully you’re convinced by now! Anyways, I hope you have a great day!

Although my senior year of HOSA ended rather abruptly, I can easily say that being apart of this organization and leading my local chapter was one of my best high school memories. It taught me many things from the importance of community service to the advantages of having self confidence. One of the biggest things I have learned from being a member is that HOSA is not only for people that are interested in healthcare, but also for individuals that want to have life skills that make them stand out from others. While I will miss working along side Mrs. Kirby, my fellow officers and chapter members, I am excited to take these memories and skills I have learned from HOSA to my next phase in life. To anyone that is interested in joining take my advice and JOIN! Nothing wrong can happen when you are on the path to become a better you.
