Welcome to the HMS Learning Commons! We are excited to open up another school year in our beautiful new facility. As the learning hub of the school, the Learning Commons remains a vital resource for all stakeholders at Harlem Middle School. The Learning Commons is an integral part of all instructional programs and strives to foster the love of reading and lifelong learning for all students and teachers. The primary goal of the Learning Commons is to provide quality service and support with the changing needs of our community. The HMS Learning Commons is further committed to the common beliefs articulated in the Standards for the 21st - Century Learner by the American Association of School Librarians.
The HMS Learning Commons is open Monday-Friday from 7-3 for all students and teachers. Students are allowed to check out two books at a time. We do not charge late fees, but a lost or damaged book will result in a fine for the replacement of that book. The Learning Commons is an extension of each classroom and the same expectations are set for students as they enter and exit. Food, drinks, gum, and candy are not permitted in the LC. Silence is NOT EXPECTED, but a quite inside voice is!!
