The high school Advanced Algebra: Concepts and Connections course is the third in a sequence of three high school mathematics courses. In this course, students will continue to enhance their data and statistical reasoning skills as they learn specific ways to collect, critique, analyze, and interpret data. Students will learn how to use matrices and linear programming to represent data and to solve contextually relevant problems., and they will strengthen their geometric and spatial reasoning skills as they learn how to solve trigonometric equations using the unit circle. Students will also further develop their functional and graphical reasoning as they explore and analyze structures and patterns for exponential, logarithmic, radical, polynomial, and rational expressions, equations and functions to further understand the world around them.

Summative: 60%
Tests are used to assess student understanding at the end of each major topic. Tests are sometimes web-based and are sometimes project-based. Test scores can be improved with remediation and reassessment. Students must show that they have completed remediation assignments in order to reassess.
Formative: 40%
Quizzes are used to determine whether or not a student understands the current standard being learned. Quiz scores can be replaced with improved test scores that assess the same standards.
The semester grade consists of the semester grade weighted 80% and the semester exam grade weighted 20%.
Each semester grade determines if you will receive a half-credit. First and second semester grades do not average to determine if you pass or fail the course.
*A minimum grade will not be used because teachers are responsible for providing reteaching, intervention, reassessment, and/or assignment completion opportunities.
Teachers will provide one reassessment opportunity per assessment. Students may reassess summative assessments within 10 days from initial assessment after completing the reassessment assignment. After 10 days, the original grade will not be replaced. The maximum grade for a reassessment is 90.
Students may take missing assignments within 10 days after returning to school. After 10 days, the original grade will remain a missing grade. This will affect their overall final grade for the semester.
