Our team travels for three days and two nights to Statesboro to compete at Georgia Southern. The conference usually takes place in late January, from Thursday to Saturday. Contact Ms. Roden or an officer for more information on topics, country assignments, or cost estimates. This is the main conference we compete in for the fall/winter season and we work hard to prepare for it. In 2023, we won outstanding delegation (first place in the whole conference) and brought home 23 individual delegate medals. We have kept the outstanding delegation medal for two years so far.
Our school hosts a mock conference simulating the one held at Georgia Southern to prepare delegates for the conference in January. Last year we simulated the General Assembly and three rooms based off the Human Rights Council. We hope we have enough participants to hold these councils again this year. Another club that Ms. Roden sponsors is Mock Trial. In mock trial, participants simulate either an appellate or lower-level court case and try to reach a verdict. It employs many of the same skills as Model UN conferences would, such as debate and public speaking. A few MUNers are members of the team and find participation in mock trial activities to be good practice for conferences. We frequently recruit alternates for either team from across the sister clubs.
