Ms. Smith was born in Augusta, GA and has been performing in distinguished choirs, community theatre, and taking voice lessons since middle school. At the age of twelve, she started private voice lessons with Ms. Patti Myers. She began her choral studies at Davidson Fine Arts where she performed as a soloist in the Davidson Chorale at Georgia Music Educators Association Conference, American Choral Directors Association National Conference, and various venues in the United States and Europe under the baton of Dr. Timothy Powell and Mr. Phillip Streetman. While at Davidson, she also performed with Musical Theatre and the A capella group DF8. She regularly attended All State Chorus, District Honor Chorus, and was selected to attend Georgia's Governors Honors Program in voice.
In August 2017, she began her training with Dr. Elizabeth Knight at the University of Georgia in Vocal Performance as a Presidential Leadership and Hugh Hodgson School of Music Scholar. While at UGA, she performed with the Hodgson Singers under Dr. Dan Bara as well as the Opera Theatre. She was the Contemporary Music Leader and Staff Soloist at Madison Presbyterian Church while in college. Throughout her studies at UGA, teaching opportunities led her to feel a calling to the classroom.
She returned to Augusta to complete a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Augusta University. She taught Elementary General Music in the Richmond County School System and is excited to return to Columbia Middle for another year of music making in Chorus. Outside of music, she enjoys swimming, crafting, and spending time with her family. She forward to working with you and her new students!
