Criteria for making the football team:
· Attendance: missing practice/tryouts may result in not making the team.
· Behavior/Conduct: all students are expected to behave both on the athletic field and in the school/classroom.
· Participation: students are expected to participate in all drills and conditioning skills. Lack of participation or loafing may result in not making the team.
· Physical Condition: students are expected to be in good physical condition during tryouts. Students will be timed in the mile run, and also the 40 yard dash. Students will be expected to complete both at a set time which will be given during tryouts. Students will also be paired up for one on one drills such as blocking to test for strength and quickness.
(Those that do not complete the drills in a timely fashion or lack the physical strength requirements may be removed from the team/tryouts.)
· Attitude: students are expected to be positive to each other and to the sport itself. A student with a negative attitude will be removed immediately from the team/tryouts.
· Grades: students must be in good academic standing and continue to be in good standing during tryouts and the season.
· Discipline (ISS/OSS): students that receive ISS/OSS may be removed from the team. Each student’s ISS and OSS record from the previous year will also be looked at and put into consideration for making the team.
