Why should I take AP Computer Science?

• Most students will need to take a Intro to Programming class in college not matter what major they choose.  The AP exam gives you credit for most non-major Intro to Programming courses in the country, and often will give credit for the CS major intro class as well.  It is a great opportunity to see this content in high school, where students receive an entire year of instruction at a slower pace.

• Grovetown High is the only school in the the district to offer AP Computer Science with the same teacher consistently each year.  I work annually at the College Board AP reading and coach for the National Math and Science Initiative’s in the area of Computer Science.  Over the past nine years, I have created a curriculum that consistently garners scores above national, state and county averages.
