What I learnt form this project can be divided in two parts:
The historical part: I learnt that Portuguese is just evolved latin, that Galician was the exact same thing as Portuguese until the 15th century and that Portuguese subdivided itself because some colonies changed the dialects to be closer to their original languages or Spanish.
The linguistic part: I learnt how to pronounce and speak basic Portuguese sentences with enough accuracy as to make a book about it
I believe I could have used my time a lot better to have a better information, bibliography and product. Added to that I could have made a better process journal.
Thanks to this I came to the conclusion that for any work I have I should put a set of alarms and reminders so that I always do my job when I should and never forget that I am supposed to work on it.
If I had to do my work again I would organize my time better, work a lot more on this project, put more effort in the search for sources and study a lot harder.
Yet if I ever had the chance to do this project again I would put a lot more work into organization and time management.
As an IB learner I have grown in many aspects, the first one would be my communicating skills since I have based this entire project on communicating to other people about the Portuguese language. I also grew as a risk taker since I took the risk of doing this project even after I realized that there was almost no information on the topic I was doing, limiting my ability to give a project long enough to hook anybody and finally as a reflective student since I always looked back on my mistakes, how I made things and how to correct them.
Although my project looks like it wouldn't end very well I believe I can make it work and that I will pass, yet even with all the problems I crossed myself with I still feel satisfied with the fact that I did actually try to do this project and that I made exactly what I was looking for.
As such I actually feel happy that I got this experience and that I achieved everything I wanted to do.
