You will first need to know where all the colonies are located. You will need to label a blank colonial map (link below if you lose the one given in class). All of your work must be neat and legible.
Your map must include the following:
Outline the colony that you will be researching in BLUE
Outline each of the colonies in black
Clearly label each of the 13 colonies with their abbreviation:
Connecticut (CT)
Delaware (DE)
Georgia (GA)
Maryland (MD)
Massachusetts (MA)
New Hampshire (NH)
New Jersey (NJ)
New York (NY)
North Carolina (NC)
Pennsylvania (PA)
Rhode Island (RI)
South Carolina (SC)
Virginia (VA)
Clearly label the Atlantic Ocean
Draw a dot and label the following cities:
Boston
Plymouth
Providence
New York City
Jamestown
Charles Towne (today it is called Charleston)
New England Colonies:
Draw a snowflake somewhere in the region to represent the harsh winter climate.
Draw a tree to represent the economy.
Draw a fish to represent the economy.
Shade green
Middle Colonies:
Draw a sun and rain drops somewhere in the region to represent the milder climate.
Draw a small farm and an iron nail to represent the economy.
Shade yellow
Southern Colonies:
Draw a big sun somewhere in the region to represent the temperate climate.
Draw rows of crops to represent the economy.
Draw chains (slave labor) to represent the economy.
Shade red

When you are finished, you will need to show your map to your adviser (your teacher). She may have suggestions and advice. These corrections will need to be applied before you can move on to step two.
