Biography
Hi! My name is Kaitlynn Kenna and I am a 5 '10 small forward/guard, graduating high school with the class of 2026. I seek to pursue basketball past the high school level, at a college that not only values players for their skill, but also for their academic excellence. Science is my passion, and I would like to major along the lines of biology or pre-med to aid in a future career of potentially being a general or cardiac surgeon.
Traits I continuously display as a player include passion, determination, and adaptability, which have been molded by my history of participating in sports from a young age. I started sports at 18 months, as a gymnast, later picking up track & field at age 7. Although I picked up other sports later in my life, such as field hockey, basketball, and tennis, participating in gymnastics and track at a competitive level for such as long time (gymnastics 11 years, track & field 10 years and counting), taught me to not only love what I do, but to also battle through adversity. These values and traits are always present in me, both on and off the court, as they have been the foundation of my basketball career as well as my academic drive.
What sets me apart from other recruits is a combination of my physical traits, work ethic, and my dedication to academics. I am a highly aggressive player who prides myself on getting the ball at all costs. I am often found on the floor diving for the ball or battling under the net to secure a rebound. In my 23-24 season, I was one of the top rebounders in the state of Connecticut, averaging about 10 boards a game, despite being shorter than a majority of the top rebounders. My defense is another trait that sets me apart from other players. With a mixture of physical strength and speed, I am not only able to lock down small shifty guards, but I'm also able to keep bigs out of the paint and from posting up underneath. When it comes to work ethic, I always pride myself on being the hardest worker in the room. There are so many obstacles on both the court and in the classroom, but the one factor that is always controllable is the amount of effort put in. This way, even when my shots aren’t falling or it simply just isn’t my day, I am still outworking everyone else on the floor, exemplifying my dedication to hustle and maintaining possession of the ball for my team.
I am also highly committed to academics, illustrated by maintaining a 4.3 GPA (weighted) and above since my freshman year in high school (4.55 currently). My success in the classroom is a result of my discipline, ability to manage time, willingness to get extra help when needed, and for a genuine curiosity for the classes I take. One of my academic accomplishments includes winning the Nelson Hume Speech Award during my 22-23 school year, a school wide competition at Canterbury School which awards the student who can create and perform the best speech in front of the entire school.
Due to my unique values, physical traits, work ethic, and dedication to the classroom, I believe that I would make a positive impact on your team and would be a valuable asset to your school. Thank you for considering me as a potential player for you program and I look forward to hearing from you!
