CBRSD Health Services

The mission of the School Nurse Department of CBRSD is to promote and protect the physical and emotional health of students.

The CBHC will serve as an entry point for timely, high-quality and evidence based-treatment for mental health conditions and substance use disorders.

School nursing is...

"a specialized practice of professional nurses that advances the well being, academic success and life-long achievement of students. To that end, school nurses facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy and learning."     -National Association of School Nurses, 1999

Each school in CBRSD has a full time DESE Certified Registered Nurse.

It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to inform the school nurse of any health condition that may impact their child while at school.

It is the responsibility of the school nurse, working with parents/guardians, teachers, and other staff, to develop an individualized healthcare plan(IHP) for any student who has a significant health care need.

The school physician is available to the school nurses for consultation.

"You cannot educate an unhealthy child and you cannot keep an uneducated child healthy..."
