CMS Principal's Message

Principal: Amy Getman-Herringshaw

Dear Cazenovia Middle School Families,

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer. I am excited to be entering my fourth year as principal of Cazenovia Middle School.  I have been dedicated to the field of education and find that middle school is a wonderful place to be. I started my educational career in the Fayetteville-Manlius School District where I taught 6th grade for 10 years and was a middle school assistant principal for five years. Before starting my educational career, I played Professional European Basketball which provided great opportunities to experience different cultures and traditions.

On a personal note, my family and I have lived in Cazenovia for over 18 years. I have three children in the school district as well. You may have seen me or my husband coaching on the basketball court, out on the field for soccer or softball. We very much appreciate the activities and traditions that make Cazenovia a wonderful place to live.

We are still in the process of scheduling homerooms and classes. Homeroom assignments will be mailed home towards the end of August. Students will receive his/her full schedule on the first day of school in homeroom.  Students will see all teachers at each grade level and will have core content classes every day. On the first day of school, students will have a chance to review the schedule with teachers, practice opening lockers, and get acquainted with the building. Locker day is August 23rd from 10-1:00 pm. Students at each grade level can come to school, receive their locker for the upcoming school year, and practice.

I look forward to working with you as a team to help each student at Cazenovia Middle School have a successful year. If you have any questions or would like to talk about the upcoming school year, please don't hesitate to call me.

Best Regards,

Amy Getman-Herringshaw
