A great way to encourage candidate participation is to call them directly. The more participating candidates we have in the coming election, the more effective VOTE411 will be! Here are tips and reminders when calling candidates.
Calling the Candidate
Introduce yourself and say you are a volunteer from the League of Women Voters calling for VOTE411.
Explain that VOTE411 is a free service to the candidates and to the members of our communities.
Describe VOTE411 as an online election information guide and a nonpartisan, nonprofit, community-based project.
Ask them if they have received their email or letter of invitation to participate in VOTE411.
If yes: ask them if they have any questions and when they plan to submit their information.
If they have not received the invitation:
Verify email address.
Inform them you will re-send the invitation to this email address, unless they want to change to another. (Don't forget to update any new addresses on BOTH the Tracking Sheet AND in the back end.)
Have them check their Junk/Spam folder.
Be sure that the candidate understands the following:
The information can be entered at any time and they can go back and edit their answers.
The candidate is responsible for accuracy. We never edit their content.
If they submit a photo, it must be square, no more than 2 years old, and cannot contain other people or prominent text.
This service is free to both them and the voters!
