The Class of 2026 came together on Sept. 12 for Senior Sunrise, an early-morning tradition to mark the beginning of their final year at Catasauqua High School. Nearly 70 students gathered by the athletic entrance of the school at 6:20 a.m. to watch the sunrise and spend time together before the school day began. Many students wore matching senior shirts and outfits, took photos together and enjoyed the view as the sun came up.
Eriana Vazquez was grateful to have some extra time with other seniors.
“The highlights of Senior Sunrise were seeing everyone in the grade come together, having fun and taking photos with all my friends,” said Vazquez.
A breakfast was organized and shared with their classmates.
Ketevan Kemashvili was surprised to see how much food everyone brought to share.
“There was so much, said Kemashvili. “We were offered bagels, eggs, turkey bacon, muffins, donuts, ect.”
Several students, including senior Hamaad Jenkins, said the food was their favorite part of the morning.
“The favorite things that I ate included Nik making me some delicious bacon and Chris toasting my bagel,” said Jenkins. “It all came together and made the senior sunrise amazing.”
Beyond breakfast, students also played outdoor games, including spikeball, football, cornhall, soccer and baseball.
The seniors will close out their last year of high school in May with a similar event called Senior Sunset.
