Kutztown University, LCCC and LCTI are providing high school seniors college-level opportunities within their career of interest. Kutztown University has an education program for students interested in pursuing teaching. Catasauqua High School seniors Elizabeth Bass, Ariana Dunnachie, Amaya Bosco and Ava Wetzel are currently enrolled in this program.
LCCC, partnered with LCTI, is providing students with programs such as Animal Sciences, Emerging Health Professionals and Future Educators. Senior Uyen Ly is currently participating in the Emerging Health Professionals Program.
Students enrolled in these programs are getting ahead by receiving 8-12 college credits before graduating high school. This allows students to graduate from college earlier and to save money.
What are you expecting from this program?
“I am expecting to get a good head start in college. Since we are getting 12 free college credits, I’m hoping I can graduate early and start teaching as soon as possible!”
-Amaya Bosco
Why are you in this program?
“I am in this program to become a successful educator."
-Ava Wetzel
What has been the best part of the program so far?
“Being on a college campus and fitting in with people who want the same thing I do has been the best part. I have also enjoyed working with kids in a classroom setting two times per week.”
-Elizabeth Bass
What does a typical day look like?
“My morning depends on what day of the week it is. I am at LCTI with my EHP Program on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, I am at LCCC either attending a three-hour lecture or an Anatomy and Physiology lab.”
