“This is Our Life” was released on Dec. 11 by Des Rocs and, simply put, it’s perfect. The third and final EP, or extended play, by the rock artist, I believe “This is Our Life” is the greatest of the three. Known for his first two EP’s, “Let the Vultures In” and “Martyr Parade,” Des has been rocking since 2018 and has experimented but maintained his musical identity. Originally from New York, Des Rocs has been working to bring rock back to life and has done a fantastic job so far. Just like a lot of his other work, “This is Our Life” has a running theme that the title explains perfectly. We live with all of our faults but we get through it, but music’s meaning is always subjective. There are five songs on the EP, “This is Our Life”, “Nothing Personal,” “POS,” “Suicide Romantics” and “Pieces”.
The first single on the EP, “This is Our Life,” was released Oct. 2. The song is incredibly fast paced and was a perfect song to start with. Out on Oct. 23, “Nothing Personal” has a very gothic style to it, just like the rest of the EP, and is the most popular song so far. “POS” is fast-paced and dark. It has a very metal feeling to it and is the shortest song, just over two minutes long. “Suicide Romantics” is the saddest of all the songs, slow at first, but it picks up speed towards the end and becomes more of a rock song. Finally, “Pieces” is similar to the last song, but both are incredible and are my two favorites from the EP.
Overall, “This is Our Life” is full of great rock music that I recommend any fan of the genre check out. I look forward to more of his music, as he is now moving on to full albums. This EP is a masterpiece, and I can confidently say that it deserves a 10 out of 10.
