Speech-Language Pathologist's

Mrs. Hunter, Mrs. Patounas, Mrs. Van Hoesen and Ms. West are all New York State Licensed and ASHA (American Speech Language-Hearing Association) certified Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP's).

To be a New York Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) means that we have completed a minimum of a Master’s degree in speech language pathology. New York State licensed speech-language pathologists have also completed at least nine months of supervised experience and have passed a written, state-approved licensing examination. Licensed speech-language pathologists are also required by law to complete 30 hours of continuing competency learning activities every three years.

ASHA certification means obtaining and maintaining the nationally recognized credential, the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC), a professional certification that represents a level of excellence in the field of Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP). Achieving ASHA certification ensures that professionals providing speech-language pathology services have received the highest quality preparation and training, and through continuous participation in professional development activities, keep up with rapid changes in the professions scope of practice.
