The SAT and ACT exams are used for college admissions. Many colleges require one of these exams for admission.
The tests are designed to measure what you learn in high school to determine your academic readiness for college. We recommend students take both exams at least once as most colleges will accept either score. Visit the Princeton Review for detailed information on the difference between the exams. Juniors should take exams in the late fall or early spring of Junior year. Exams can be taken again in the fall of senior year if needed. Fee waivers are available to students who qualify. See your counselor if you think you may qualify.
The PSAT is offered to 10th and 11th grade students in October. The PSAT/NMSQT is highly relevant to your future success because it focuses on the skills and knowledge at the heart of education. It measures what you learn in high school and what you need to succeed in college
If you think the key to a high score is memorizing words and facts you’ll never use in the real world, think again. You don’t have to discover secret tricks or cram the night before.
The best way to prepare for the test is to:
Take challenging courses
Do your homework
Prepare for tests and quizzes
Ask and answer lots of questions
In short, take charge of your education and learn as much as you can.
