Student Interventions
Whole Group Support
The most comprehensive way Mrs. Smith supports every student at Tiger Creek is through whole group intervention. Each month, Mrs. Smith leads a lesson or discussion with every classroom. Lessons center around monthly character traits (see below), career awareness and exploration, or various county-wide holidays (Red Ribbon Week, Kindness Week, etc.).
Small Group Support
Small group support is offered for students in the same grade who exhibit similar needs. Small groups meet at the most convenient time for the students’ teachers and usually do not exceed more than 5 students at one time. Small group topics range from study skills, emotional regulation, self-confidence, social skills, and more. Small groups normally run for 5 to 7 weeks at a time. Students may be referred to a small group by their teacher, parent, or the student may ask to join. Parental consent is mandatory for a student to participate in a small group.
Individual Support
Individual student intervention is also offered on an as-needed basis. Mrs. Smith supports students who may struggle with anxiety, sadness, grief, friendship issues, motivation, or any other reason a child might need support at school. All individual cases are treated with sincere care and confidentiality, and Mrs. Smith works closely with those students’ parents to keep lines of communication open between school and home and offer the best support possible.
Character Traits
Each month students study one character trait, specifically. A "Student of the Month" is chosen from each class based on who has exhibited that trait throughout the month. See Monthly Character Traits tab for more info!
