Biography
Jinbum Kang is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Biomedical Software Engineering (BMSW) at the Catholic University of Korea in Korea. He studied for his Ph.D. degree at the Department of Electronic Engineering at Sogang University in Korea and for postdoctoral training at Ultrasound-based Washington Molecular Imaging and Therapy Center (uWAMIT) and the Department of Bioengineering at University of Washington in Seattle, WA, USA (PI: Dr. Matthew O'Donnell).
He was the recipients of the Bronze award (Signal Processing Division) in the 23rd Samsung Human Tech Paper Awards held by Samsung Electronics, the Young Investigator Award (YIA) in the 13th Congress of the Asian Federation of Societies for Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (AFSUMB) and in the 16th World Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology Congress (WFSUMB), respectively.
His research interests include the translational research of biomedical imaging and image-guided therapy that exploit acoustics and other medical physics. He is currently investigating several national / industrial projects related to real-time breast microcalcificaiton detection for biopsy guidance, next generation ultrasound-based biomedical image diagnostic techniques with artificial intelligence and transcranial acoustoelectric brain imaging techniques.
