PAR (Personalized Accelerated Reader)

• You will be required to read TWO books per quarter. This book must be at least 7 AR points (7ABL) or at least 8 AR points (8ABL). 

• In ABL, your AR Goal each quarter on Renaissance will be either 7 AR points (7ABL) or 8 AR points (8ABL)

• Your chosen novel MUST fall in your current ZPD range.

• You MUST score an 80% or higher on your AR test for the novel to “count” towards your PAR grade.

• Class novel will NOT count! 

• You will also be required every quarter to read a nonfiction book. This can be any book of your choosing. As long as it falls in your ZPD range, there is no requirement for how many AR points the book is worth. 

• You will also be required to complete a "Passion Project" for your chosen PAR novel. 

  • If you read more than one book per quarter, you do not have to complete multiple passion projects. 

• DOUBLE DIPPER (CCS Library Incentive)

  • In order to obtain Double Dipper in ABL, you MUST read a total of TWO novels that match all of the previously mentioned PAR requirements.

  • Again, class novels do NOT count! 

Important Reminders:

• Each and every student is required to submit one completed AR log per quarter.

• AR is worth 10% of your quarterly reading grade:

AR test (10 pts.) + AR log (10 pts.) = 20 pts. total

• Your "Passion Project" will be a separate AR grade. 

• Cheating will result in a zero, parental contact, and disciplinary action.

• If you'd like help reaching your goals and/or staying on track, ask Ms. M for help.

• Utilize arbookfind.com to verify that the book you chose is AR.
