What's the Amazing Shake?

Amazing Shake is a competition that places an emphasis on teaching students manners, discipline, respect, and professional conduct. Students learn the nuances of professional human interaction as they are taught skills such as how to give a proper handshake, how to “work a room,” how to give a successful interview, and how to remain composed under pressure. The goal is to prepare our students so that they are able to present themselves exceptionally well for opportunities today, as well as those that will come in the future. This is a great opportunity to connect our students and education to the business leaders in our community!

Work the Room

Networking is an essential skill to develop! In this round, students mingle with professionals as if they are at a business gathering. They must introduce themselves and engage with the attendees. The professionals score students on eye contact, handshakes, and poise at the event. Students only have 30 minutes to cover the entire room.

Lightning Round

Remaining students from Round 1 engage in one-on-one speed questions from a group of local business leaders seated in a round-robin fashion. Students are judged on their eye contact, handshake, common sense, confidence, and more.

Gauntlet

Round

Remaining students go through an "obstacle course" of 10-15 unique real-world stations headed by a business or community leader. Students are judged on handshake firmness, eye contact, poise, confidence, charisma, and more.

Dining Round

This round is where the top remaining students have a brunch meeting with a panel of administration, priests, local business and community leaders. These longer interviews are where the adult table members really get to know the students, and the students get to present their communication, conversation, and etiquette skills.

Final Championship Round

Students are seated in front of a panel of local business and community leaders for a one-on-one question and answer. This round also takes place with an audience of middle school peer supporters. CHAMPIONS earn a spot to compete at the GLOBAL AMAZING SHAKE in Atlanta, Ga!!

GLOBAL Amazing Shake

CCS Champions get to compete against top winners from around the world at the GLOBAL AMAZING SHAKE in Atlanta, Ga!! It is a 3-day competition of case-scenario stations that every student must pass through while exercising etiquette and composure. Top performers advance to the next level of challenges until there is ultimately one overall GLOBAL CHAMPION!
