A Word From the Director...

Mrs. Rice

So this is my classroom. A wee station set up at my dining room table where I share my space with a 4th grader. We parallel our Chromebook and laptop and push our papers and pens on the border of our workspace. Me, eager and feverish to telework & continue, in my own way, to reach my teens, him fidgeting and working hard to dodge his online learning. We recently got roller skates and hit the streets when stress comes knocking. Alexa drowns my concentrated times with songs like "Dance Monkey". He claims the beat helps him work. I'm learning to manage this strange terrain.

I miss our black box theatre (The Tractor Shed Theatre). I miss our ensemble of diverse learners who are safe and comfortable in front of one another in their own spot they've carved out of the shed. My first and forever goal is to make them feel safe for who they are and where they come from. The task is much more difficult. But our motto is to "To strive, to seek, to find and not to yield." We hope to still produce a play from this new digital platform.

Technology

Technology can never replace the true sense of what it means to be human. I'm tech savvy but know it is only a tool for teaching. Bells and whistles. But here I am begging it to be enriching.

A running list of tech. I'm using:
