Students have several options on where and how they intern outside of school. For more information and examples of internship sites, go to individual pages for service and career.
During the school day, juniors have the option of career internships 4th period. Seniors have the option of a double block career internship (1st/2nd, 2nd/3rd, 3rd/4th and 4th/5th). Career interns must complete at least 135 hours to receive credit.
Teaching internships are offered to juniors and seniors for one block during the school day. Middle school placements can be for 2nd, 3rd and 4th periods but not first. Elementary school placements can be for 1st, 2nd and 3rd period but not for 4th period. High school placements are not available. Interns must complete at least 90 hours to receive credit.
After school service internships are available to all grade levels. Students must complete at least 35 hours to receive a quarter credit on their transcript. 70 hours completed equals half credit and 135 hours one high school credit.
Summer internships are available for all grade levels. Preference is given to rising juniors and seniors for career internships and all grade levels qualify for service internships.
