Kathleen Pesce

I teach sixth grade Science at Catawba Elementary School. I began teaching in Los Angeles in 1999 and have taught fourth, fifth and sixth grade. My family moved to the Catawba area in 2006. My husband and I have a daughter and son in college, as well as a daughter who will be entering second grade. I have been teaching at Catawba Elementary since 2010. I am proud to be a Rocket!

BA Cultural Anthropology with a minor in Business Administration.

Technology and Fun!

Sphero BOLT

Sixth grade students will use Spheros during the school year to help achieve a STEAM Based classroom environment. Students will work on coding, building, graphing and on demand problem solving. Students will have a chance to work with introductory JAVA Script with the Sphero BOLT.

*Robotic team will also complete at the county fall programming competition, programming a Sphero through various challenges and task.

Makey Makey

Sixth grade students will use Scratch to program Makey Makey. Students enjoy creating fun with everyday objects by connecting and coding their object to their computer.

Lego Education SPIKE Prime:

A school Robotic team is selected to compete at the county fall programming competition. Students will program their bot through various challenges and task.

The Robotics Team also has the opportunity to take part in the county spring sumo-bot competition.

Catawaba Elementary Science Olympiad Team

NCSO Unifor Tournament

A school Science Olympiad team of 18 students (4-6th grade) are chosen to compete in the annual North Carolina Science Olympiad Tournament. Students compete in various events that are designed to enhance and build upon both science content and process skills.
