SkillsUSA is a team that competes in areas of leadership, teamwork, citizenship, and character development. They start at the local level with opportunities to advance to the state and national. Challenger Early College High School and Catawba Valley Community College have a partnership in SkillsUSA. CVCC's SkillsUSA chapter is recognized as one of the best programs in the country. It is a campus-wide success with our college winning 19 national medals in the past five years.
Estimated Cost for Competitions:
Membership: $14.00
State Conference: $200
National Conference: $700
Hotel and Travel: $300
$50 = 1 Parent Engagement Hour
Bring Cash/Check to CHS Office

Chemistry Curtains
The chemistry lab is in need of some black-out curtains for the classroom. There is a lab that is conducted during the year that requires near-total darkness. While taping bulletin board paper to the windows has been moderately effective, a permanent option would be so much better and easier!
There are three windows and a door that needs to have curtains made.
Wall window measurements: 72"x38"
Window between classrooms measurements: 50"x80"
Door window measurements: 6"x22" there are 2 of these in the chemistry lab.
I have no preference for what the curtains look like, but if you wanted to make them chemistry-themed or if you can find material that is science-related that would be amazing!
I can offer you volunteer hours for making the curtains as well as buying the materials if you can keep the receipts. This opportunity has the potential to fulfill all 4 of your required hours.
If you find curtains that would work for the lab and want to just buy curtains, I can offer you hours for the contribution if you keep the receipts.
This is a great need to fill in this chemistry room, and if you're a wizard with the sewing machine, this is an easy way to help our school and get those hours!

Locker Clean-Out
CHS needs parent volunteers to clean out the lockers and microwaves annually starting after the last day of school.

Cleaning At Sweetwater🧹
Spend a couple of hours helping us clean up and organize the Sweetwater storage area.
