All About Me

Meet Nurse Adkins

I have been a school nurse in Caswell Co Schools for 15 years. I serve the High School population which I feel is a great fit for me because I enjoy watching them enter as freshman and seeing how much they grow, change and mature before graduating.

My nursing background includes emergency medicine, surgical services, pain management and occupational health and school nursing.

I have been married for 35 years, have 2 grown children and 1 precious grandson. We enjoy traveling, hiking, anything outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Why School Nursing?

I enjoy school nursing because it allows me to apply my critical thinking skills and work independently. A school nurse must have the ability to make split second decisions in an emergency situation because you never know what may happen in the course of a day. I enjoy the high school age group because they are constantly changing physically, mentally and emotionally. I accept the challenge and hope to make a difference helping this age group cope with these changes because a student's ability to learn is tied directly to their health.
