Absences

To report your child's absence you can...

Please note that if no reason is given for why your child is away, their absence is recorded as unjustified.

Arriving Late or leaving early

Arriving Late to School

Please do your best to ensure tamariki arrive at school on time (between 8.30am and 8.50am).  If they do arrive late, they must check in at the school office before going to class.

Every minute of school time is valuable so please try to avoid pulling tamariki out of school early.  If it is unavoidable, they do however need to leave early, they must be signed out through the office.

Concerns and Complaints

Entry Points to School

Front and Side Gate

These gates are the best access point for Te Whanake (Y3 - Y6) students who walk or get dropped off to school.  Come through front gate, then head around to the side gate by the carpark to access back classrooms.

Carson Street Gate

This gate on the side of the school is where bikes and scooters should enter and be parked in the bike shed.  It is also the best access point for Te Kākano (Y1 - Y3) students who walk or get dropped off to school.

Fruit in School Programme

Fruit and Vegetables are delivered to school twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays).  This service usually begins in week 2 of each term.

Immunisation Records

We are undertaking a major update of our school immunisation records.  If you haven't done so before, please bring in your child's Immunisation Certificate so we can ensure their details are up to date on our records.  Your child does not have to be immunised to enrol at school.  That is completely your choice as a whānau.  Letting us know whether they are or not will help us to keep them safe when there is an outbreak (ie measles).

Lunch in School Programme

All tamariki are provided with a free lunch each day from our contracted supplier Pita Pit.  The menu for the following week will be sent home in the school newsletter.  You may still send extra “healthy” kai (sandwiches, fruit, veges, cheese and crackers etc).

PRIZEGIVING

2024 Prizegiving will be held on the last day of school this year.

School Caregiver App

If you have a smartphone, once your child is enrolled, you will be sent an email with a link to download and set up our school caregiver app on your phone.

With the app, you can:

The parent app is one of our preferred methods of communication.

School Uniform

Summer - Terms 1 and 2

Winter - Terms 3 and 4

Our school polo shirt, polar fleece and bucket hat with logo can only be purchased online from NZ Uniforms.

Shorts, skorts, pants, sandals, shoes and plain bucket hats can be purchased from wherever they are available.  Warehouse and Postie Plus have a reasonable priced range of items available.

Sports Uniform

School t-shirts or singlets are required for all students participating in school sports teams and events.  These can be purchased online from All Stitched Up and will be delivered to school.

Stationery Lists

Stationery lists for 2024 can be downloaded below.  If you already have some items from last year, only buy what you need.  We strongly encourage whānau to recycle and re-use stationery items.

Swimming

Water Skills for Life is a compulsory part of learning here at Castlecliff School, just like reading, writing and maths.  We are a coastal school and we place a high emphasis on ensuring our tamariki are confident and capable in the water.  We are very fortunate to have our own swimming pool.

Swimming is timetabled 3 to 5 times per week in Terms 1 and 4.  Students must have their own togs and a towel.  Hair needs to be tied back / plaited.  A swimming cap is a good idea.  Googles are not necessary as students must learn to be able to cope with opening their eyes under water.  A reminder to name all togs and towels.
