To report your child's absence you can...
Use the parent app (this is our top preference)
Ring the school office on 344 4537 (leave a message if no answer)
Please note that if no reason is given for why your child is away, their absence is recorded as unjustified.
Arriving Late to School
Please do your best to ensure tamariki arrive at school on time (between 8.30am and 8.50am). If they do arrive late, they must check in at the school office before going to class.
Leaving Early
Every minute of school time is valuable so please try to avoid pulling tamariki out of school early. If it is unavoidable, they do however need to leave early, they must be signed out through the office.

These gates are the best access point for Te Whanake (Y4 - Y6) students who walk or get dropped off to school. Come through front gate, then head around to the side gate by the carpark to access back classrooms.
This gate on the side of the school is where bikes and scooters should enter and be parked in the bike shed. It is also the best access point for Te Kākano (Y1 - Y3) students who walk or get dropped off to school.
Fruit and Vegetables are delivered to school twice a week (Mondays and Wednesdays). This service usually begins in week 2 of each term.
We are undertaking a major update of our school immunisation records. If you haven't done so before, please bring in your child's Immunisation Certificate so we can ensure their details are up to date on our records. Your child does not have to be immunised to enrol at school. That is completely your choice as a whānau. Letting us know whether they are or not will help us to keep them safe when there is an outbreak (ie measles).
All tamariki are provided with a free lunch each day from our contracted supplier Pita Pit. The menu for the following week will be sent home in the school newsletter. You may still send extra “healthy” kai (sandwiches, fruit, veges, cheese and crackers etc).
Daily office hours are 8.30am to 3.30pm.

2025 Prizegiving will be held on the last day of school this year.
12.45pm to 2.30pm
Friday 12 December 2025
As this is the last day of school, all students must be taken / collected from the Church immediately after prizegiving as there will be no buses back to school.
If you have a smartphone, once your child is enrolled, you will be sent an email with a link to download and set up our school caregiver app on your phone.
With the app, you can:
Notify school that your child is going to be away
Receive school messages, notices and newsletters
Get information about upcoming trips and sign permission forms
The parent app is one of our preferred methods of communication.
As advised in 2024, we are implementing clearer uniform guidelines from 29 January 2025. The most significant change is that there is no distinction between summer and winter uniforms. Provided the correct combination of items are worn (i.e. socks and shoes, not socks and sandals, they can be worn anytime of the year). Our school polo shirt, polar fleece, sports tee and bucket hat with logo can only be purchased online from NZ Uniforms.
Stationery lists for 2025 can be downloaded below. If you already have some items from last year, only buy what you need. We strongly encourage whānau to recycle and re-use stationery items. You can delete items from any list that you already have from last year and add extra items that you are wanting.
Water Skills for Life is a compulsory part of learning here at Castlecliff School, just like reading, writing and maths. We are a coastal school and we place a high emphasis on ensuring our tamariki are confident and capable in the water. We are very fortunate to have our own swimming pool.
Swimming is timetabled 3 to 5 times per week in Terms 1 and 4. Students must have their own togs and a towel. Hair needs to be tied back / plaited. A swimming cap is a good idea. Googles are not necessary as students must learn to be able to cope with opening their eyes under water. A reminder to name all togs and towels.
