Josh Perry is the Director of Bands for Castleberry ISD. He received his BME from Henderson State University and is in his 25th year as a music educator in the state of Texas. This is his seventh year in Castleberry. He has previously taught in Atlanta (TX), Sabine (TX), Longview (TX), Spring Hill (TX), and Red Oak (TX).
Under Mr. Perry's direction, the Spring Hill Junior High Band was a five-time consecutive state finalist in the Outstanding Performance Series competition, including first place State Winner in 2014. He was an assistant director with the Spring Hill High School Marching Band when they performed at the UIL State Marching Contest for the first two times in school history.
In Fall 2023, the Castleberry High School Lion Band returned to the UIL State Marching Contest for the first time since the pandemic. In 2024, for the first time in school history, the Wind Ensemble performed at the UIL State Wind Ensemble Festival at the University of Texas at Austin. This school year will be their third consecutive performance at this prestigious event. Mr. Perry’s performing ensembles have consistently received the “Sweepstakes” award, with over 30 appearances at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest.
In his spare time, Mr. Perry’s interests include fitness, movies, and jazz. He is married to Andi Perry, who is an HR professional in the Fort Worth area. They enjoy cooking together, spending time with their dog, Sophie, and have been married for 26 years.
Wesley McCall is the Assistant Band Director at Castleberry High School. He directs the Symphonic Band and Jazz Band; assists with the marching band and Wind Ensemble; teaches AP Music Theory; assists with the IMMS concert bands; and teaches beginner band classes. Mr. McCall earned Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Oboe Performance from the University of North Texas, and a Master of Music degree in Conducting from Pennsylvania State University. He is in his 11th year as a music educator and sixth year at CHS. Prior to joining the Castleberry team, Mr. McCall served as a successful middle school and high school band director elsewhere in the D/FW metroplex.
In addition to teaching, Mr. McCall has extensive experience working with bands, choirs, and orchestras in college, church, and summer music festival settings around the country. Most recently, Mr. McCall served for more than six years as the Director of Music and Worship at Trinity United Methodist Church in Duncanville.
Mr. McCall lives in Saginaw with his wife, Dr. Jenna McCall, who is the music teacher at Castleberry Elementary School and a professional clarinetist. They perform together with the Mansfield Wind Symphony, a volunteer ensemble comprised largely of local music teachers. They also love traveling, food, and cats. They have four fantastic felines: Rhapsody, Kyrie, Libby, and Artie.
Taylor Dwyer is in his sixth year as Director of Percussion for Castleberry ISD and brings over a decade of teaching experience since beginning his career in 2012. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a concentration in percussion studies from the University of North Texas.
Before joining Castleberry, Mr. Dwyer served as Assistant Percussion Director at Lewisville High School, Duncanville ISD, and Cleburne ISD. He is an active clinician and adjudicator in the DFW area and is known for his student-centered instruction, ensemble development, and commitment to fostering positive musical communities.
At Castleberry, Mr. Dwyer has helped rebuild and grow the percussion program through creative, standards-aligned instruction and a strong culture of leadership. One highlight was bringing back the Annual Percussion Bash after a seven-year hiatus—a community-centered event celebrating student work across all grade levels.
Mr. Dwyer is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) and the Percussive Arts Society (PAS). He lives in Fort Worth, TX. Outside of teaching, he enjoys cooking, watching movies, and spending time outdoors. He shares his home with two dogs (Coco and Hilde) and three cats (Poe, Mister, and Alexis Rose).
Alexis Sampley is entering her 7th year teaching and her 3rd year as head band director at Irma Marsh Middle School. Prior to IMMS, Alexis taught at Bridgeport ISD and assisted with all high school and middle school band activities! Currently, her responsibilities include teaching the beginner flute, oboe, and saxophone classes along with leading the Sweepstakes-winning Honor Band and co-teaching all other middle school band classes!
Hailing from Italy, TX, Ms. Sampley graduated from Italy High School. Her primary instruments are oboe and flute. She graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Baylor University and completed her student teaching at Gatesville ISD. Ms. Sampley has also earned her Master's Degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas.
Her professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, The International Double Reed Society, and Mu Phi Epsilon. Ms. Sampley enjoys watching Baylor Football and playing with her puppy Holly! She currently resides in River Oaks, Texas.
Travis Ball serves as an Assistant Band Director in Castleberry ISD, where he teaches the IMMS Symphonic and Beginner Bands; assists with the IMMS Honor Band; and assists with the CHS Lion Marching Band and concert bands. He earned his BME from Abilene Christian University and has been teaching band in Texas since 2013. This will be his second year in Castleberry ISD. Before arriving in Castleberry, Mr. Ball taught for ten years in Fort Worth ISD.
While in Fort Worth, Mr. Ball started as the director of the Trimble Tech High School marching band. He led them to their first superior performance at UIL Marching Contest. Mr. Ball also taught at Rosemont Middle School, where the band program grew to include four concert bands. In 2019, Mr. Ball transitioned to South Hills High School, where the marching band went to Area Marching Contest for the first time in school history for two consecutive years.
In his spare time, Mr. Ball enjoys spending time with his wife, Kristen, and his two boys, Jackson and Cason. They enjoy hiking, traveling, building LEGO, and playing with their puppies, Penny and Gracie.
