Josh Perry is the Director of Bands for Castleberry ISD. He received his BME from Henderson State University and is in his 26th year as a music educator in the state of Texas. This is his seventh year in Castleberry. He has previously taught in Atlanta (TX), Sabine (TX), Longview (TX), Spring Hill (TX), and Red Oak (TX).
Under Mr. Perry's direction, the Spring Hill Junior High Band was a five-time consecutive state finalist in the Outstanding Performance Series competition, including first place State Winner in 2014. He was an assistant director with the Spring Hill High School Marching Band when they performed at the UIL State Marching Contest for the first two times in school history.
In Fall 2023, the Castleberry High School Lion Band returned to the UIL State Marching Contest for the first time since the pandemic. In 2024, for the first time in school history, the Wind Ensemble performed at the UIL State Wind Ensemble Festival at the University of Texas at Austin. The 2026-2027 school year will be their fourth consecutive performance at this prestigious event. Mr. Perry’s performing ensembles have consistently received the “Sweepstakes” award, with over 30 appearances at UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Contest.
In his spare time, Mr. Perry’s interests include fitness, movies, and jazz. He is married to Andi Perry, who is an HR professional in the Fort Worth area. They enjoy cooking together, spending time with their dog, Sophie, and have been married for 27 years.
Wesley McCall is the Assistant Band Director at Castleberry High School. He directs the Symphonic Band and Jazz Band; assists with the marching band and Wind Ensemble; teaches AP Music Theory; assists with the IMMS concert bands; and teaches beginner band classes. Mr. McCall earned Bachelor of Music degrees in Music Education and Oboe Performance from the University of North Texas, and a Master of Music degree in Conducting from Pennsylvania State University. He is in his 12th year as a music educator and seventh year at CHS. Prior to joining the Castleberry team, Mr. McCall served as a successful middle school and high school band director elsewhere in the D/FW metroplex.
In addition to teaching, Mr. McCall has extensive experience working with bands, choirs, and orchestras in college, church, and summer music festival settings around the country. Most recently, Mr. McCall served for more than six years as the Director of Music and Worship at Trinity United Methodist Church in Duncanville.
Mr. McCall lives in Saginaw with his wife, Dr. Jenna McCall, who is in her fifth year as the music teacher at Castleberry Elementary School. Jenna is also a professional clarinetist. They perform together with the Mansfield Wind Symphony, a volunteer ensemble comprised largely of local music teachers. They also love traveling, food, and cats. They have four fantastic felines: Rhapsody, Kyrie, Libby, and Artie.
Dillon K. Lewis is a classically trained pianist turned percussionist. His great-grandfather, "Prof" Raymond T. Bynum, is credited to directing the first and oldest operating band program in Texas at Abilene High School, and famously moved on to start McMurry University's first collegiate band program. Mr. Lewis is now a percussion performer and music educator in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He was most recently the Assistant Percussion Director and Assistant Band Director at North Mesquite High School, where he taught percussion master classes, percussion ensembles, and directed the Concert Band, which received consistent superior ratings at their UIL contests under his direction.
Previously, he was the Graduate Teaching Assistant for the University of Texas at Arlington Percussion Studio where he assisted teaching the Maverick Marching Band and coached select percussion ensembles. While studying for his music degrees, Mr. Lewis has spent his summers working for summer music programs. He was the percussion director of the Culver Summer Schools & Camps in Indiana and of the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp International Program. He has also been a featured clinician for various programs in the DFW and West Texas areas and taught private lessons and masterclasses for students at Burleson ISD, Abilene ISD, Abilene-Wylie ISD, and Jim Ned CISD.
As a performer, Mr. Lewis has helped premier musical works by Joe W. Moore III, Nicole Piunno, Quinn Mason, Joshua Howeth, Rhett Clark, and others. The solo multi-percussion work "Until the Wind Changes" was commissioned through Joe W. Moore III and is published by C. Alan Publications. He was also the winner of the 2024 UTA Concerto Competition and performed Michael Daugherty's “Raise the Roof” concerto for timpani and orchestra in February of that year. Mr. Lewis has been a part of featured performances at Carnegie Hall, the Texas Music Educators Association Convention, the National Conference for Percussion Pedagogy, and other various competitions and Texas based festivals.
Mr. Lewis received his Bachelor of Instrumental Music Education degree at McMurry University in Abilene, Texas, and his Masters in Percussion Performance from the University of Texas at Arlington. His primary teachers include Andrew Eldridge, Juan "Johnny" Mendoza III, Joe W. Moore III, and Christopher Nadeau. Mr. Lewis is an active member of the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Percussive Arts Society, and the Kappa Kappa Psi Alumni Association.
Mr. Lewis joined the Castleberry ISD Band Staff at the start of the 2026-2027 school year as the Director of Percussion and Assistant Band Director. His favorite things are rollercoasters, board games, and collecting vinyl records. Mr. Lewis currently resides in Fort Worth, Texas, along with his wife, Kayleigh, and his puppies, Piper and Bongo.
Alexis Sampley is in her eighth year teaching and her fourth year as head band director at Irma Marsh Middle School. Prior to IMMS, Alexis taught at Bridgeport ISD and assisted with all high school and middle school band activities! Currently, her responsibilities include teaching beginner classes, leading the Sweepstakes-winning Honor Band, and co-teaching all other middle school band classes!
Hailing from Italy, TX, Ms. Sampley graduated from Italy High School. Her primary instruments are oboe and flute. She graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Baylor University and completed her student teaching at Gatesville ISD. Ms. Sampley has also earned her Master's Degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas.
Her professional affiliations include Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, The International Double Reed Society, and Mu Phi Epsilon. Ms. Sampley enjoys watching Baylor Football and playing with her puppy Holly! She currently resides in River Oaks, Texas.
Travis Ball serves as an Assistant Band Director in Castleberry ISD, where he teaches the IMMS Symphonic and Beginner Bands; assists with the IMMS Honor Band; and assists with the CHS Lion Marching Band and concert bands. He earned his BME from Abilene Christian University and has been teaching band in Texas since 2013. This is his third year in Castleberry ISD. Before arriving in Castleberry, Mr. Ball taught for ten years in Fort Worth ISD.
While in Fort Worth, Mr. Ball started as the director of the Trimble Tech High School marching band. He led them to their first superior performance at UIL Marching Contest. Mr. Ball also taught at Rosemont Middle School, where the band program grew to include four concert bands. In 2019, Mr. Ball transitioned to South Hills High School, where the marching band went to Area Marching Contest for the first time in school history for two consecutive years.
In his spare time, Mr. Ball enjoys spending time with his wife, Kristen, and his two boys, Jackson and Cason. They enjoy hiking, traveling, building LEGO, and playing with their puppies, Penny and Gracie.
