The Covid shutdown was not effective at all.
The pandemic (a disease that is out broken over a whole country or the world) cases still rose up in the tens of thousands. Shutting down did nothing but make other illnesses rise in numbers as well. Mental health became increasingly worse for a large portion of the population. All the shutdown did was delay the inevitable. We were not shut down long enough, and we reopened before considering the public health guidelines. Our case level rapidity was not at the threshold it should have been.

There will always be people who disregard the restrictions and continue to gather in large crowds. People are too excited to resume their social interactions so when they get the chance they take it and help in spreading the virus. Young people feel as though they won’t be affected by the virus, so they continue to party and travel with groups of people. The richer people of the US are not restricted by travel bans and they can leave and come into the country as they please through private aircraft.

Letting the virus run its course through herd immunity (when a population becomes immune to a disease through either vaccine or mass infection) is the only way. If we don’t let it run its course then we’ll never be able to build up immunity. People will die, that’s just a part of life. It should be a choice to stay indoors or wear a mask if you are afraid of getting sick. The vaccine will only protect you for a few months after injection. Covid is a virus you can retain multiple times, so you would need to get a vaccine multiple times a year in order to ward off the sickness. It’s too costly and will be ineffective.

Conservatives are supportive of the way that Sweden handled the pandemic because they feel as though their liberties are being infringed upon.
