A Tiger Prep Academy (TPA) child might be quite verbal, learn quickly, and be of average or higher intelligence. However, for some reason (age, behaviorally young in social and emotional maturity, etc.), he/she is not developmentally ready for Kindergarten. Developmental readiness includes physical, social and emotional growth.
Some of the characteristics you may have noticed in your child are:
Has a short attention span
Becomes easily frustrated
Lacks fine and gross motor skills, coordination, and balance
Is tired by the afternoon or still requires a nap
Has difficulty separating from a parent or caregiver
Is overly anxious about being correct
Is unwilling to attempt new experiences
Cries easily
Has delays in speech and/or language development
Is unable to attend to bathroom needs independently
Your student must be five (5) years old before August 1st
Consideration for placement is based on screening results from Parents as Teachers (PAT) and from the Kindergarten Orientation screening, teacher recommendation, and/or parent recommendation
Children will transition to regular Kindergarten the year following Tiger Prep Academy (TPA)
Parents interested in finding out more about this program may inquire on or before the Kindergarten Round-up or by contacting your Parents as Teachers (PAT) representative.
