5th Grade: Through Symphonic Band, students learn the foundations of performing on their instrument and in an ensemble.
6th Grade: Students continue to build their knowledge on their instruments in the Concert Band and lessons. Middle School Jazz Band, Flag Squad, and Honor Guardbecome available to those interested!
7-8th Grade: Students of our Wind Ensemble continue to enhance their instrumental techniques and have an increased number of performances. Each year this group competes in the Sherburne Pageant of bands, always receiving high marks. Middle School Jazz Band and Marching Bandare additions to the traditional experience, along with small ensembles. Sister instrumentscan be explored at this level, such as Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, and Baritone Saxophone.
9-12th Grade: At our highest level, the Concert Band refines student skill sets and prepares them for their adventures after High School. Students participate in Marching Band, Pep Band, Jazz Band and Small Ensembles, and travel to different venues like Albany, Hershey Park, and The Carrier Dome. More sister instruments are available at this level.
Meet The Directors
Mrs. Heather Wood teaches 5th Grade Band and General Music in the Middle School. She is a Euphonium and Trombone player with a Bachelors and Masters Degree from the Crane School of Music.
Ms. Maresa Badour teaches 6th Grade Band and 7-8th Grade Bands in the Middle School. She is a Trumpet player with a Bachelors and Masters Degree from the Crane School of Music.
Mrs. Jennifer Waterhouse teaches the 9-12th Grade Bands in the High School. She is a Clarinet player with a Bachelors from Houghton College and Masters Degree from the Crane School of Music.
