(a.k.a. Online Etiquette)

Our objective is to guarantee that our students consistently practice safety measures while being online. Therefore, we suggest taking a few minutes to talk to your child about online safety and frequently engaging in conversations with them regarding their online activities and behavior.

• Be respectful: Treat your peers and teachers with respect, just as you would in a physical classroom. This means using appropriate language, avoiding inappropriate comments or behavior, and being mindful of others' feelings.

• Use appropriate language and tone: When communicating with your peers or teachers online, be mindful of your tone. Avoid using language or emojis that could be interpreted as rude or dismissive.

• Avoid offensive language or behavior: Refrain from using offensive language or engaging in behavior that may be perceived as disrespectful or inappropriate.

• Respect others' privacy: Be mindful of others' privacy when online and avoid sharing their personal information without their consent.

• Be mindful of others' time: Avoid spamming or sending unnecessary messages to others, and be respectful of their time and online presence.

• Think before you post: Before posting anything online, think about how it may be received by others and if it aligns with your values and beliefs.

• Respond in a timely manner: If someone reaches out to you online, respond in a timely manner to show that you value their time and communication.

• Use proper grammar and spelling: Communication is key in an online classroom, so make sure you are using proper grammar and spelling in all your written assignments and discussions.

• Avoid distractions: While attending an online class, make sure to avoid any unnecessary distractions, such as surfing the internet or checking social media. Focus on the class material and participate actively in the discussions.

• Be punctual: Show up on time for your online classes, just as you would for a physical classroom. This shows respect for your teacher and peers and helps to keep the class on schedule.

• Stay engaged: Actively participate in class discussions and ask questions when you don't understand something. This shows your teacher and peers that you are engaged and interested in the material.

• Follow the rules: Make sure to follow your school's rules and guidelines for online behavior. This includes using appropriate language, avoiding cheating, and respecting others' privacy.
