Pathways School Based Youth Services Program provides mental health and supportive services to the students of Carteret High School. Pathways SBYSP is a collaboration between Carteret Public Schools and Wellspring Center for Prevention. Funding is provided by The NJ Department of Children and Families. Licensed clinical staff provides counseling services to the students to improve decision making, learn coping strategies, help deal with stressors, address mental health symptoms including depression and anxiety and provide support whether in a crisis situation or for ongoing matters. In addition to clinical services, Pathways provides clubs and groups aimed at healthy youth development and opportunity for positive peer interactions. Pathways also provides positive, safe, structured recreational activities including daily drop in during lunch periods and the Pathways summer program. Pathways initiates youth driven activities aimed at building a positive culture in the school, as well as programming focused on building the social emotional health of all students.
Students can come to the Pathways Office during their lunch periods to do homework, use the computer, play games or relax in a calm setting. Students must receive a pass from Pathways prior to their lunch period or at the beginning of the lunch period before reporting to recreation from the cafeteria.
Pathways currently facilitates the following clubs:
Incorruptible.us CHS Chapter (click here for more info about the cause)
Girl Talk
Braiding Beauty
If you are interested in joining any of these clubs, feel free to stop by the office, call, or email Pathways (contact info at top of page). Note: Students must sign a consent form to participate in any Pathways activity. Forms can be filled out below -- available in English and Spanish. Students under 16 years old must have their forms signed by a parent/guardian.
Students can join our Remind App classes to receive text or in-app notifications about our different clubs. Students can also join our Google Classroom to stay updated on all things Pathways. We also have an Instagram! See the links below to get connected with us!
