Welcome to Punjabi Language Class!
As the Punjabi World Language teacher at Carteret High School, I am proud to teach a language that reflects the rich culture and heritage of many families in our community. Carteret is home to one of the largest Punjabi-speaking populations in the region, and offering Punjabi as a world language helps our students stay connected to their roots while also gaining valuable communication and cultural skills.
In my class, students learn to speak, read, and write in Punjabi, while also exploring the traditions, music, history, and values of Punjabi culture. Whether students are heritage speakers or completely new to the language, they will gain confidence in using Punjabi in real-world situations at home, in the community, and beyond.
Learning Punjabi is not only personally meaningful for many of our students, but it also builds global awareness and opens doors for future careers in business, healthcare, education, and public service. As our world becomes more connected, bilingualism and cultural understanding are more important than ever.
My goal is to create a welcoming and engaging classroom where students feel proud of who they are and inspired to learn more about the world around them. And it all starts with the language that plays such an important role in our town and in so many of our lives.
I look forward to helping each student grow as a language learner and global citizen!
Parents: I encourage you to speak Punjabi with your student at home. If you need to contact me, you can do so through email. English or Punjabi is welcome!
