Required Supplies

All band students are to bring to each class their instrument with a luggage tag attached, music, and Essential Elements Book 1 or 2, a 3-ring binder with clear sheet protectors, and pencil.

*All students should have a Korg TM-60 (Tuner/Metronome) with CM300 (contact microphone)

*All students should have a music stand for at home practice.

Flute: A flute tuning rod, a soft cloth or silk swab, and thumb and index guides.

Oboe: Three good medium strength reeds should be kept at all times along with a silk swab for cleaning, cork grease, reed case, and an empty 35mm film canister, with lid.

Bassoon: Three good medium strength reeds should be kept at all times along with swab and drop swab for cleaning, cork grease, reed case, and an empty 35mm film canister.

Clarinet: A minimum of three strength 2-1/2 reeds at all times. As the students get more advanced, a harder reed will be required. I recommend Vandoren. You are expected to rotate reeds to break them in and they will last longer this way. You should purchase a cleaning kit that includes everything you need to maintain the clarinet. Recommended: B45, Vandoren M13, M30 mouthpiece and Vandoren Leather ligature, and a reed Guard.

Saxophone: A minimum of three strength 2-1/2 Vandoren reeds should be kept at all times. As the students get more advanced, a harder reed will be required. Also needed are a chamois swab and cloth for cleaning, a neck strap, cork grease, VibraEase mouthpiece cushion, and a reed guard for storing reeds. Recommended Selmer C* mouthpiece and vandoren leather ligature.

Trumpet: Tuning slide grease, a soft cleaning cloth, mouthpiece and snake cleaning brushes, valve oil. Recommended B.E.R.P. Old rag for spit valve collection.

French Horn: Holden Farkas MDC mouthpiece, Rotary valve oil, tuning slide grease, a soft cleaning cloth, mouthpiece and snake cleaning brushes. Recommended B.E.R.P. Old rag for spit valve collection.

Trombone: 6.5 A.L mouthpiece, Slide-O-Mix slide lubricant, tuning slide grease, 2 cleaning cloths, cleaning rod, mouthpiece and snake cleaning brushes. Recommended B.E.R.P. Old rag for spit valve collection.

Baritone/Euphonium: 6.5 A.L. mouthpiece, Tuning slide grease, a soft cleaning cloth, mouthpiece brush, mouthpiece pouch, and valve oil. Recommended B.E.R.P. Old rag for spit valve collection.

Tuba: Helleberg 7B mouthpiece, Tuning slide grease, a soft cleaning cloth, a mouthpiece cleaning brush, valve oil, mouthpiece pouch. Recommended B.E.R.P. Old rag for spit valve collection.
