About our project

About our Project

Our Wetlands Matter project is a partnership between Carrum Primary School, the Monash University Virtual School, and Alan Johnson, Koorie Engagement Support Officer, Northern Peninsula Network.

Our project first started when we went to Monash University in Clayton. We had a lot of fun creating "frogs" with Little Bits electronics. We used the noise blocks to make "frog calls" Charlotte and Daisy pressed the noise button and said SOS in morse code!

Tinkercad

We used Tinkercad to make a 3D design of a frog and then we 3D printed them out! You can see our designs below.

Edithvale Wetlands

We travelled to the Edithvale Wetlands Bird Hide and we met Robin Cleary from the Friends of Edithvale and Seaford Wetlands. She showed us around the Bird Hide. It was very interesting and we saw lots of beautiful animals.

We are laying the foundation and helping our school and the students to understand how we can look at this project through an Aboriginal lens. The next stage of our project will be to look for and engage with the traditional owners or another Aboriginal person that can take that knowledge and learning to the next level of cultural understanding.
