Preferred mode of address
We live in an age of confusion about formality and appropriate address of each other. This is especially true of college, and Carroll is not an exception. I realize that there is variance among my colleagues about how they prefer to be addressed. I have always attended more formal academic settings, and find comfort and familiarity with the use of honorifics and titles; hence I prefer to be called “Dr. Smillie.”
