Our annual Awards Evening took place on Thursday the 24th of October) where we celebrated the many achievements of our students; sporting, academic and social. Our keynote speaker was past pupil Sabrina Levis-Morley, owner of the Gourmet Pantry Kinsale. She spoke at length about her time in school, her passion for food and her strong desire to be a successful business owner and entrepreneur. She encouraged our students to believe in themselves and to remember that even at their lowest moments, they can rise again and again.
We acknowledged our students across the different year groups who contributed to school life. We celebrated our incredible results in the Junior Certificate, Leaving Certificate and Leaving Certificate Applied. We celebrated our many sporting triumphs and our talented students in the fields of languages, drama, Meitheal and Student Council.
The evening was hosted by Ms. Jackie Faherty and music was provided by Ms. Nicola Cooke and her talented 6th Years. It was a memorable event and a wonderful coming together of the community to celebrate hard work and dedication. Well done to everyone involved.

To support our Coffee Dock Project we had a Halloween themed Colours Day in school on Wednesday the 23rd of October. It was a spooky reminder of just how creative our staff and students can be! Over €1,000 was raised for this worthy cause. Well done to all who took part!
We celebrated an important week here in CCS. Stand-Up Awareness Week is a national event that took place from November 4th to the 8th. BelongTo’s Stand Up Awareness Week is where our community takes a stand against homophobic, biphobic and transphobic bullying.
We invited the Educational Officer, Stephen Cassidy from BelongTo, to address our Gay/Straight Alliance (GSA) group. He was well received and talked about the importance of our approaches here in school as we strive for togetherness and inclusiveness across all strands of our community. Students and staff alike, wore "Rainbow Ribbons" in solidarity. Well done to Ms. Stackpoole and Mr. Crowley for leading this worthy venture.
The pre exams will start on the 31st January for the sixth years and on the 4th February for the third years. Please note that there is a cost for doing these exams as the papers have to be purchased and the sixth year papers are sent out for correction.
The cost is €50 for students in third year and €100 for students in sixth year. Payment can be made on Easy Payments Plus carrigcs.ie/payments/
The school will subsidise the cost of the exams for students with a medical card. If a student has a medical card the cost will be reduced to €20 - in this situation please bring the medical card and money to the main office.
We would appreciate payment by the end of January if possible. Thank you.
Sales of our new school fleece are going extremely well resulting in Cahills selling out their first batch. A new delivery has arrived so all are encouraged to purchase a fleece, especially as we are moving into the colder months of the year.
We are giving a small amount of time for students to get on board with further improving what is already a good level of compliance with wearing the school uniform. The wearing of hoodies and non school jackets around the building is not allowed as they are not part of the official school uniform.
We would ask parents and guardians to ensure that their son(s)/daughter(s) comply with our school uniform rules. Daily confiscation of non-uniform items will commence shortly if necessary.
Best of luck to the third, fourth, sixth and LCA2 students in the November Assessments next week (18th-22nd November). You've put in the hard work and now it's your time to show what you know. Stay focused and give it your all. Best of luck.
We would like to commend our students for their participation in the guard of honour for Nigel Herlihy’s funeral mass on Monday the 11th of November. Your presence and respect in celebrating the life of Nigel showed just how much of an impact he made in school. We are incredibly proud of the way the school community came together on this sad occasion. It was a fitting tribute to a friend and colleague that meant so much to us in CCS.
Thanks also to the staff and students that worked on the memorial display for Nigel in school. Some beautiful messages and memories of Nigel were recorded in the book of condolences.
Nigel will not be forgotten and the positive impact he has had will live on through the many students and teachers who were positively impacted by his kindness. In time we will honour his memory further here in school.
May Nigel rest in peace.
The schedule of activities (matches/speakers/assessments/outings etc) is available on the school website for parents/guardians to view. This is updated each week.
