CUSD elementary students have not had consistent art instruction since 2004. This year, our Platinum Sponsor, Mac Brown Excavating, Inc. has donated $40,000 to establish an Art Fund with the goal of providing all Carpinteria elementary students with lessons in Visual Arts, Dance, Theater & Vocal Music beginning in the 2018-2019 school year. In addition, CEF has dedicated all 2018 Carp-a-Cabana proceeds to this cause.

The opportunity to experience the arts at school is crucial to the development of the whole child, and builds qualities such as creativity, confidence, perseverance and gross & fine motor skills. Many of our students do not have the means for lessons in the arts outside the school setting.

For the last 27 years, CEF has hosted the Orchard 2 Ocean 10k, 5k, & 1 Mile Fun Run. The 5k & 10k are favorites of many local runners in Santa Barbara County, and our 1 Mile Fun Run brings our community together to support our local schools. We have approximately 400 participants ranging in ages from 3-80 years old.

Proceeds from Orchard 2 Ocean are distributed among the parent groups at all 7 CUSD schools according to enrollment. These funds are used by the parent groups to fund assemblies, bike safety, swimming lessons, STEM, etc.

Carpinteria Education Foundation has launched a new initiative to remedy the glaring need to provide greater access to technology. CEF has dedicated $9,000 in matching funds and has challenged the community to fund 60 Chromebooks for Carpinteria Middle School.

CEF & the Carpinteria Lions Club recently donated $16,600 to help fund supplies for the new science labs at Carpinteria High School.

Carpinteria Education Foundation proudly awards several community scholarships that are available only to Carpinteria High School seniors. Each year our committee, along with community members and supporters, interviews these inspiring young people. Scholarships are awarded at the Senior Assembly each May.
