Horizon will create a space where members can explore LGBT issues to raise awareness and raise capacity to model allyship in our community and beyond. Students will lead Day of Silence, National Coming Out Day and PRIDE Day on our campus. Horizon is a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community and straight students to communicate in a safe space about social issues.
Horizon was founded for the purpose of creating a safe space for students to discuss topics involving LGBTQIA+ matters. We acknowledge the fact that not all people are open minded to these facts even to this day, and provide comfort and support for anyone who may be going through difficult times due to being apart of our community. We strive to create a positive voice for members of the LGBTQIA+ umbrella, as well as creating a place of security for everyone.
The Sisters of St. Joseph are strong supporters and allies to the LGBTQIA+ Community. The Sisters state that they "stand in solidarity with and support lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons in our quest for inclusion and justice, knowing that Jesus welcomed everyone to the table respecting the dignity of every human person." Horizon has no prerequisites to join, so feel free to sign up if you are interested!
