While listening to the story the Beeman you might want to cut out your hexagons.
For Earth day we think about all the wonderful creatures and how they make earth such a special place. This picture book will take you through a year of beekeeping from the point of view of a little girl helping her grandpa, who's known in the town as the Beeman. The book touches upon all aspects of beekeeping. From how the keeper and his young helper dress, to how they care for the hive, to how they harvest (and enjoy eating) the honey. You will discover what each type of bee does, see how honey is made, and learn lots of amazing facts.
The Beeman STEM Challenge:
After listening to the book The Beeman and learning about bees, ask the question; I wonder is the hexagon really the most efficient shape for the bees’ honeycomb?
