This is a Passionate Enhanced Learning group for Carmel students in Year 7/8 who care about the environment and want to promote or report on environmental issues.
We have been taking part in a competition run by Keep New Zealand Beautiful. It is an international competition for students 11-14 years of age. The entries can be reportage, a campaign or photography. The students are sharing their writing on here as part of the dissemination requirements for the competition.
The group also gets involved in Adopt the Park activities where they work with a ranger from Auckland Council and a facilitator from Pupuke Birdsong Project to look after a local park. This year the group has been working at Lake Pupuke Quarry Park to enhance the environment through planting native grasses and weeding out pest plants.
