For three decades, the Canine Adoption and Rescue League (CARL) has been the voice for Ventura County’s rescue dogs. This September, we’re celebrating this 30-year milestone at our brand-new home: ‘olołkoy Beach Park. Join us for a day of sun, sand, and wagging tails as we walk to save lives! Whether you’re a longtime supporter or a first-time walker, we can’t wait to see you catch the wave with us.
We’ve moved the party to ‘olołkoy Beach Park (1601 S. Harbor Blvd) to make this our best year yet:
Wider, safer walking paths for pups of all sizes.
A larger Vendor Fair featuring local favorites and treats.
More room to spread out and enjoy that salty beach air.
This isn't just a walk; it’s a full-blown beach parade! We want to see your best "Coastal California" creativity. Grab your Hawaiian shirts, grass skirts, and sunnies—and don’t forget the dogs!
Whether you’re competing for Best in Show with a standout costume, coordinating with your Surf Team (Group Entry), or decorating a stroller like a Rolling Sandcastle, your spirit is what makes this event legendary.
Beyond the costumes, we’re walking with a purpose. Form a team, collect pledges, and compete for the Tidal Wave Award (Most Money Raised by a Team) or the Shoreline Superstar (Most Money Raised by an Individual). Every dollar raised goes directly to our medical and program funds, helping our rescues "coast" into their forever homes!

Grab your sunscreen and your squad! This year’s Pooch Parade is hitting the "beach," and we’ve got a trophy for every kind of beach bum. Whether you’re a solo surfer or a whole lifeguard crew, here is how you can win:
The Big Kahuna (Best in Show): Awarded to the most creative, spotlight-stealing beach costume that truly stops traffic.
Most Tropical Spirit: We’re looking for the entry that best captures the vibrant energy, aloha colors, and island traditions of our beach party.
The Surf Team (Best Group Entry): This honors the crew that shows the most creativity and coordination in their group theme—matching Hawaiian shirts strongly encouraged!
The Sandcastle Award (Best Wagon/Stroller Decor): Turn those wheels into a tiki hut, a surf shack, or a rolling sandcastle for the most imaginative "float" in the parade.
The Shoreline Superstar: This prestigious title goes to the single participant who goes above and beyond by raising the most individual pledges for our pups.
The Tidal Wave Award: Awarded to the powerhouse team that makes the biggest splash by raising the most money to support CARL’s mission.
