A little About Me...

Here's a little info about me! I grew up in Carlsbad (I attended Kelly, Hope, Valley & CHS!) and played tennis, volleyball, basketball & track. I also loved singing and was a part of Showstoppers & Sound Express show choirs. Fun fact! My mom (Bobbi Seelig) was a long time 3rd grade teacher at Magnolia and it's so fun to be a Magnolia Lion now myself!

After graduating, I went on to get my BA, Credential & Master's degrees from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego. At PLNU I met my husband Ryan. (Yes, this is the same Mr. Bentley that has taught 6th grade at Valley for the past 10+ years!) Our parents were friends when we were babies & say he chased after me back then too! We got married after I graduated from college. Shortly after that, I landed my first job teaching 3rd grade at Kelly Elementary. I taught 3rd-5th grades for 9 years at Kelly and was involved leading student council and the broadcasting team.

After our son, Judah, was born I moved to Pacific Rim to work part time as a teacher in 3rd grade. During my 9 years at PacRim, I also taught Kindergarten and 1st grade and ended up meeting my teacher besties, Mrs. Lupica & Mrs. McDonald! We had many adventures together, like leading the tech team & writing applications for National Blue Ribbon & California Distinguished School awards, all of which were successful!

During this time, our daughter, Eliana, was born & I also worked part time as an adjunct professor at Point Loma Nazarene University. I taught in the credential program, showing teacher candidates how to plan interdisciplinary curriculum. Later, I taught in the Master's program as well, for the Integration of Technology in Education courses. I enjoyed my 10 years there, but was ready for a new adventure!

When Eliana was ready for kindergarten, I accepted a full time position at Magnolia in 2019 & have been a Magnolia Lion ever since. It has been so fun developing TeamMAG the last 2 years, and I can't wait to see what TeamMAG 3.0 does this year!

After school, you'll likely find our family at the baseball field cheering on my son (Judah will be a freshman at CHS this year!) or cheering on Eliana in her gymnastics meets (She's a 4th grader at Magnolia). We love to spend time at the beach, at Handel's, or walking our dog Tika. We are big Padres fans, even though they are really letting us down this year. :)

I can't wait to see what this year has in store for us as a class! I'm so excited to be back in 5th grade! Go Lions!
