Welcome Students & Families
I’m thrilled to be your teacher this year! We’re going to have an exciting year full of learning adventures. I can’t wait to learn all about you, but first, here’s a little about me:
I graduated from SDSU with a BA in Graphic Design and Art History. After college, I worked in graphic design and ran my own small business before transitioning into education.
I went back to school to earn my Teaching Credential, and recently, I received my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
Over the past 14 years, I’ve been fortunate to be part of the CHE community as a parent, a volunteer, a substitute, and a teacher.
My Life Outside of CHE
I grew up in Temecula back when it was dirt roads and endless hills. We raised chickens and bunnies and had a lot of dogs and cats. I always dreamed of having a horse.
I’m married to my husband, Chris, who gets to travel often for work—a perk I’m always a little envious of!
We have three kids: Dylan, Devon, and Gavin. Dylan and Devon are both in college at Chico State and SDSU, while Gavin is in high school at Carlsbad High and is an avid water polo player. I love cheering him on at his games, and I also love supporting my students if they’re ever playing a game or performing—I’m a big fan of ALL the activities!
When I’m not teaching, I enjoy exercising, reading, baking, spending time with friends, and soaking up everything our beautiful city has to offer.
Educational Philosophy
My goal is to create a student-driven classroom where curiosity and wonder lead the way. I strive to foster an environment where students explore multiple perspectives and approaches, understanding that there is never just one way to see or solve a problem.
I encourage students to use their words and writing as powerful tools for communication and expression. I teach them that readers are leaders—opening their world to books unlocks endless opportunities for growth and learning.
I believe in meeting students where they are, celebrating their individuality, and guiding them toward self-acceptance. Through positive reinforcement and plenty of practice, I aim to help my students grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
