EMPTY BOWLS
(StandUpforKids Charity)
"Empty Bowls is a national movement with the core purpose of raising funds for local hunger-fighting organisations and to educate people around issues of poverty and hunger in our community. Additionally, the event aims to advocate for arts education. Guests choose a student-made bowl , flower vase, or planter,to keep as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. They will learn how their donation has helped to fill the truly empty bowls of people less fortunate. Our intention with this project is to “fight hunger and find beauty”.
In line with SCHS's intention to create an "interconnected learning community that prepares students to thrive as responsible citizens in an ever-changing world", students work hard all year long with the desire to help others in need. The Empty Bowls Event at Sage Creek High School is an annual event which aims to make a positive impact on our world.
3D Design students create handmade ceramic pieces, Carlsbad community members donate plants and flowers, and festival goers purchase these beautiful works of art to take home! All of the proceeds are donated to a local SD non-profit called Stand Up for Kids. This organization offers meals, healing and care to homeless youth in our local community.
The Empty Bowls event is a direct example of our Bobcat community coming together to make the world just a little bit better!!
