Hi there, Coyotes! My name is Mrs. Lack, and I am beyond excited to kick off my 15th year of teaching and my 11th year in 5th grade! After two incredible years as the CHE Music Teacher (and self-proclaimed Music Magical Unicorn π¦), Iβm back in the 5th grade classroom, my true passion!
While I miss making music, I am thrilled to return to where I can ignite innovation, spark a love of learning, and most importantly, make school fun, but don't get it twisted... we still sing and dance daily in the LACK ATTACK! I canβt wait to howl, cheer, and grow with you this year as part of the Lack Attack!
I believe that children learn best when they are actively engagedβdoing, experiencing, creating, and collaborating. Learning should be flexible, student-driven, and responsive to the needs and interests of each child. I strive to create a classroom where students are encouraged to talk, share ideas, problem solve, and tackle meaningful challenges together every day.
In my classroom, mistakes are celebrated, thinking is visible, and learning is a joyful, hands-on adventure. I am passionate about building an environment where students feel safe, valued, and empowered to take risks, explore their curiosities, and grow not just as learners, but as kind, capable humans.
I earned my Bachelorβs degree in Liberal Studies from Sacramento State University, and I recently completed my Masterβs degree in Curriculum and Instruction through WGU. Throughout my educational journey, I focused on growing as a teacher who inspires creativity, student voice, and innovation in the classroom.
During my college years and early teaching career, I also had the incredible opportunity to perform as a professional dancer. Dance and music have always been closely connected for me, and I loved bringing that energy and movement into everything I did as an educator.
The Lacks are a proud CHE Coyote family!
My daughter, Lucy (7), is a 2nd grade Coyote who loves art and creating beautiful things.
My son, Eli (10), is a fellow 5th grader and loves playing basketball and solving Rubik's Cubes.
Our French Bulldog, Jaxson (12), is still the king of snacks and will do anything for cheese.
Our newest addition, Sunny Bunny, whom we adopted from the SD Humane Society, does nothing but eat carrots and bask in the sun.
My husband, Ben, and I love longboarding in Oceanside, finding new taquerias, and enjoying lots of beach time in Carlsbad.
